Seven “significant” parking changes have come into force at Bristol Airport this week. The airport’s website details the changes on its website. It affects key areas including the meet-and-greet zone, the multi-storey and the short-stay car park.

It comes as the airport’s new ‘passenger transport interchange’ opened on July 16. The changes been described by the airport as “a major upgrade that is the most significant development in decades”, and means passengers arriving by car, bus, coach or shuttle bus will now access the terminal via a covered bridge.

The multi-storey car park has been expanded, meet-and-greet services have been relocated and there is a larger new drop-off and pick-up area, Bristol Live reports.

The passenger pick-up area, previously at the short-stay car park, has relocated to the transport interchange.

There is also a new drop-off and pick-up zone for minibuses and ‘over-height vehicles’.

The airport’s website advises of changes in these seven areas listed below, as of July 16:

Silver zone – seven minute bus transfer to terminal

Shuttle bus will drop off and pick up from Transport Interchange which has flat-level access to the terminal via a covered bridge.

Multi-storey – three to ten minute walk to terminal

Doubles in size with additional covered spaces. Flat-level access to the terminal via covered bridge.

Meet and greet – Three to five minute walk to terminal

Relocates to level two of the multi-storey car park. Use the lift to reach level four for easy, flat access to the terminal.

Short stay and pick-up – eight to ten minute walk to terminal

Becomes a short stay only car park. Passenger pick up relocates to the transport interchange (drop off and pick up). Prices start from £7 for 10 minutes.

If you are dropping off and will be longer than 10 minutes, the airport recommends the Short Stay and Pick Up car park.

Drop and go – three to five minute walk to terminal

Relocates to the Transport Interchange and becomes Drop Off & Pick Up. Flat-level access to the terminal via covered bridge.

Bus and coach park – three to five minute walk from the terminal

New area for vehicles over 16 seats opens in the transport interchange, replacing the current coach park. Flat-level access to the terminal via covered bridge.

Minibus & over height vehicles

New drop off and pick up zone for minibus and over height vehicles (under 16 seats, over 2.1m) opens.

Details of the interchange were announced last year with an interchange for coaches, buses and ‘other forms of transport’, a glazed bridge link between the car parks and the terminal, new waiting and rest facilities, an enlarged drop-off and pick-up area and an M&S convenience store which is “coming soon”.

The long-stay car park remains closed until spring 2026.

Dave Lees, CEO at Bristol Airport, said in 2023 when the works were announced: “This project is transformational for our customers. It is the largest single capital investment project since the terminal opened in 2000 and will take 18 months to complete.

“As with all large-scale projects, they are complex and the development work will need to be phased to accommodate the normal day to day airport operations.”
