Wrexham will again face Birmingham City this season, meaning Rob McElhenney and Tom Brady will resume their rivalry.

Wrexham are gearing up for the Championship season after achieving a third straight promotion under Phil Parkinson.

This promotion sees Wrexham take on some big hitters in the second tier, many of whom have recently played in the Premier League.

The Championship fixture list summed that up, with Wrexham pitted against Southampton on the opening day of the season.

Wrexham will also tackle Birmingham City again, following two highly publicised meetings between the two sides in League One.

Rob McElhenney and Tom Brady exchanged barbs last season, and their rivalry will spark up again in the Championship.

North American supporters will certainly take a keen interest in Wrexham’s games against Birmingham.

There is already huge interest around McElhenney and Reynolds, but throw former NFL superstar Brady into the mix, and these games become enormous.

McElhenney sent a message to Brady last week, suggesting that he can’t wait to watch Wrexham beat Birmingham on season two of ‘Built In Birmingham: Brady & The Blues’.

Season one will be released in August, with Birmingham following Wrexham’s lead after the success of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

Brady has now sent a message back to McElhenney ahead of the new championship season.

Writing on his personal blog, Brady suggested that he sees a bright, ‘winning’ future for Birmingham as long as they continue to bring in the right people.

Brady added that he would love to eclipse the ‘fancy’ duo of McElhenney and Reynolds and what they have achieved at Wrexham with multiple promotions.

Brady believes that would be the ‘true definition of success’, poking some fun at the Hollywood duo in the process.

“With the documentary, I’m glad we’re getting a chance to show the world a glimpse of what Birmingham City is like as we move forward into a brighter, winning future,” said Brady.

“Going into this season, we’ve had a lot of changes, but we believe we’re building something very special with many better days ahead of us. You know, Birmingham City has a great song called “Keep Right On.” I’m confident that if we continue to “keep right on” finding people and players that value winning, who want to do it the right way, with the right mindset and motivation, and the right values, we can build a global community around the team that rivals organizations like the Savannah Bananas and the All Blacks, and maybe one day soon eclipses what those fancy Hollywood actors are doing over at Wrexham AFC. That would be the true definition of success!” he added.

Birmingham City have secured one win over Wrexham this summer

All that really matters is the action on the pitch, and Wrexham would love to pick up a win over the Blues this season.

Wrexham lost 3-1 away at Birmingham last season, before a draw at the STōK Cae Ras early in 2025.

Wrexham will host Birmingham on October 4, before travelling to face the Blues away from home on April 11, 2026.

McElhenney would love a win to rub in Brady’s face, but Birmingham have secured a win over Wrexham in the transfer market this summer.

Birmingham snapped up Wrexham target Tommy Doyle on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, bolstering their options ahead of the new season.

Wrexham are now moving for other targets and will hope to find the right players to make an impact in the Championship as a whole, not just against Birmingham.
