Leeds United’s pursuit of Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach has just been handed another boost.

With the German midfielder keen on a move to Elland Road, it is up to the Whites to negotiate a fee for the 26-year-old.

The imminent arrival of Sean Longstaff from Newcastle does not look to discourage United from securing another midfielder, with Leeds’ engine room likely to receive no further investment if both arrive in West Yorkshire.

Hoffenheim seem to have accepted their fate, with the Bundesliga outfit already on the hunt for Stach’s replacement.

Alongside these midfield reinforcements, the Whites are continuing their seemingly never-ending pursuit of Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz, with progress reportedly being made on the deal.

United’s deal for Stach, however, appears to be closer to completion, with Rob Dorsett claiming that Hoffenheim are interested in signing Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester following the Foxes’ relegation.

The Nigerian midfielder has a release clause of £9million following Leicester’s return to the Championship, with Mainz and other sides in Germany interested in the 28-year-old.

Leeds supporters will be hoping Hoffenheim secure the signing of Ndidi to make a proposed deal for Stach more achievable, if his replacement is already at the club.

The fact that Leicester could be losing a key player to help facilitate a new arrival at Elland Road will only sweeten the deal for Leeds fans, given their constant mocking after they were promoted and the Whites lost in the play-off final in 2024.

Interesting to see who Daniel Farke deploys in midfield

If Longstaff and Stach join a midfield department consisting of Ethan Ampadu, Ao Tanaka and Ilia Gruev, it will be interesting to see who Farke chooses to start in the first game of the season against Everton.

It would be hard to imagine Gruev getting regular minutes if these arrivals came to fruition, with the Bulgarian already being a weaker option than both Ampadu and Tanaka.

If Leeds play a midfield three, Tanaka could play more of an advanced role compared to the one we saw him in last season, where he sat deep as part of a midfield two.

The Japanese international and Longstaff may be used as two box-to-box midfielders, whilst either Ampadu or Stach provide more defensive cover further back in midfield.

One thing is for certain, Farke would not have a shortage of options in the centre of the park, and who he plays may considerably differ depending on the quality of the opposition.
