For yet another day, 45 schools across Delhi have received bomb threats, turning such incidents into a distressing daily affair. According to sources, it is suspected that the same individual who has previously sent threatening emails to various schools is behind this latest wave as well. This time, the emails were reportedly sent from the ID roadkillmentalhospital@atomicmail.io. The message reportedly includes mentions of the sender’s “mental health struggles.”
The email claims that several explosive devices, specifically Trinitrotoluene, have been planted in school classrooms and hidden in black plastic bags. The message is violent and deeply unsettling.
The sender wrote: “Hello. I am writing to let you know that I have placed several explosive devices (Trinitrotoluene) within school classrooms. The explosives are skillfully hidden, in black plastic bags.”
The threat email sent to 45 schools in Delhi contained deeply unsettling language, expressing the sender’s anger and disillusionment with the mental health system. The individual accused psychiatrists and psychologists of neglect and criticised the effects of psychiatric medications. Alongside these grievances, the message carried veiled threats of violence, suggesting harm could come to schoolchildren as a form of retaliation.
While no specific action was mentioned, the tone implied a disturbing intent. Authorities are treating the message seriously, especially given its emotional and psychological undertones, and are considering involving mental health experts in the investigation.
These threats have alarmed authorities. Among the affected schools are Bharti Public School in Swasthya Vihar, East Delhi; Hamdard Public School in Talimabad, Sangam Vihar, South Delhi; St. Xavier’s Sr Sec School in Raj Niwas Marg, Civil Lines, North Delhi; Mira Nursery School in Janakpuri, West Delhi; and Delhi International Public School in Sector 9, Rohini. The Indian School (Second Shift) on Josip Broz Tito Marg in South East Delhi was also targeted, as were Delhi Public School, Mathura Road near Nizamuddin in South Delhi; Mater Dei School on Tilak Lane near Connaught Place; DIS Edge in Sector 18A, Dwarka; Delhi Jain Public School in Palam, South West Delhi; and Junior Delhi School with its head office in Rohini.
Other institutions that received the threat include The British School in Chanakyapuri, Faith Academy in Prasad Nagar, Karol Bagh, and Amity International School in Saket, South Delhi, along with multiple branches of Delhi Public School in R.K. Puram, East of Kailash, Vasant Vihar, and Rohini.
Authorities have pressed standard operating procedures into action, evacuating the campuses and launching comprehensive search operations. Teams from the Delhi Police, Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), and fire services were on-site, combing the premises for any suspicious objects. The repeated threats have triggered a heightened state of alert and renewed concerns over the safety of students and staff across the national capital.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and while no explosives have been found so far, strict security measures are in place.
Repeated Threats To Delhi Schools Over 4 Days
At least five schools reported alerts on July 16 alone across areas such as Dwarka, Vasant Kunj, Paschim Vihar, and Hauz Khas. The threatening emails were received between 5:26 am and 8:12 am, prompting swift deployment of bomb squads, police, and cyber experts. No explosives were found.
Notably, St. Thomas School in Dwarka and Vasant Valley School in Vasant Kunj were targeted again, having faced similar threats earlier in the week. On Tuesday, St. Stephen’s College and St. Thomas School were also threatened. The email to St. Stephen’s chillingly claimed that multiple IEDs and RDX bombs were planted in its premises and library, threatening detonation by 2 pm. Police cordoned off the campus, but no suspicious materials were discovered.
On July 17, three other schools – CRPF School in Dwarka Sector 16, CRPF School in Prashant Vihar, and Navy Children School in Chanakyapuri – received similar threats. Again, all turned out to be hoaxes.
Several schools and one college have been targeted over the past three days, with no real explosives found so far. All schools in Delhi remain on high alert after threatening emails.
