GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Rapper Eminem is set to release a new documentary next month.

“STANS” will start playing in AMC Theatres on Aug. 7, after the documentary opened at SXSW London earlier this year.

The documentary is named after the Michigan rapper’s iconic 2000 song “Stan,” written about an obsessive fan. Directed by investigative journalist Steven Leckart and produced by Eminem among others, “STANS” includes “rare” archival footage and original interviews as it takes a deep-dive look into some of his most devoted fans, a release on his website says.

“(It) follows a cast of real-life ‘stans’ whose deep personal connections to Eminem mirror some of the many themes found throughout his lyrics,” the release says. “… More than just an exploration of fandom, the film examines the complicated relationship between one of the world’s most private artists and his massive public persona.”

A teaser trailer for the documentary was released Tuesday.

“What’s your first question?” Eminem says at the end of the teaser trailer.

The documentary is set to be released in theaters for a limited time. More details will be released on July 24.
