Manchester United’s next transfer priority reportedly depends on what happens with wantaway wingers Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony this summer.
On Thursday, MEN Sport reported that United had submitted a third bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo worth £70m and they were confident that the offer would be accepted. Fast forward less than 24 hours and that is just what has happened.
There are reports that Mbeumo would undertake his medical with United this weekend and the hope from the club’s side is that a deal can be agreed before the Reds jet off to Chicago on Tuesday. It is expected that it is merely just a matter of time before United get this deal over the line.
Should that be the case, United will need to move on to their next priority and quick with the countdown until the new Premier League season well underway. According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are clear on what they wish to do next in the transfer window.
It is claimed that United will be looking to add an out-and-out centre-forward to their squad after bringing Mbeumo on board. However, their budget will vastly depend on how much money they receive for the quartet who have requested their exits from the club.
United will see the two big ticket items as being Rashford and Garnacho. Both represent ‘pure profit’ in accounting terms with the former being a homegrown talent while the latter was bought for a nominal fee which will easily be eclipsed.
Sancho and Antony will most likely be sales that will aim not to create a loss on the balance sheets but freeing their wages will also be important to signing the striker they wish to. All four men plus defender Tyrell Malacia have been back at Carrington but training individually after stating they wished to leave.
