THE Northern Ireland Field and Hunter Championships were held at Drumquin Archery Club (DAC).

This competition is the pinnacle of field archery in Northern Ireland and attracts top archers from around the region as well as Ireland.

The field and hunters are one of the three archery disciplines practiced within the world level IFAA and regional level NIFAA, and comprises of shooting four arrows at each of twenty eight targets, outdoor with distances ranging from 11 yards up to 80 yards.

The targets are spread over an average two to three mile path.

Weeks of planning and preparation from Drumquin Archery Club ensured a competitive competition over the two days with the club attaining/retaining four regional titles, three silver medals, two bronze and five national records…not bad for a small club in Drumquin who in the past have had representation at national, UK. European and world level.

The club’s next competition comes in the form of a two-day bowhunter in September, where competitors will face the challenge of shooting 28 life sized foam animal targets, from unmarked distances over a two to three mile trek, and is a precursor for our indoor bowhunter in November.
