A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a person was found seriously injured in a Scots housing estate.

John MacMillan from Glasgow appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday July 18 charged with attempted murder, assault to severe injury, per disfigurement, impairment and danger to life.

The 43-year-old made no plea and was remanded in custody. He will appear again within eight days.

Emergency services were called to Cornalee Gardens in the Pollok area of the city at around 3.45pm on Wednesday, July 16, after a 38-year-old man was found injured.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been confirmed.

A police cordon remained in place at the scene throughout Thursday, with uniformed cops standing guard.

It is understood that residents were asked to sign in and out when entering or leaving their homes.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland previously said: “Around 3.45pm on Wednesday, 16 July, 2025, police received a report a man had been injured on Cornalee Gardens, Pollok, Glasgow. Emergency services attended and the 38-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“A 43-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.”

Residents are being urged to remain patient as officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
