Four years after the closure of Topshop in Solihull’s Touchwood shopping mall, the empty unit has been taken up by tech giant Apple, according to reports by Birmingham Live.

Located in the Crescent Arcade section of the shopping centre, the unit has been unoccupied since Topshop closed down stores in 2021, following the first Covid-19 lockdown and the collapse of parent company Arcadia Group.

Hoarding that appeared around the shop caused a certain amount of speculation while general manager Tony Elvin posted on LinkedIn in January 2024 saying the new store was “Top Secret”.

Both Touchwood and Apple are yet to formally announce the opening. However, as reported by Birmingham Live, new signs with the Apple logo have appeared outside the shop, confirming that Apple will be the new tenant for the space. Signs confirmed that the store will open its doors on Saturday, 26 July.

According to the outlet, the Apple store on the opposite side of the arcade, which opened in 2007, will close when the new store opens.

TheBusinessDesk.com has approached Touchwood for comment. Meanwhile Apple confirmed the store’s opening date to Birmingham Live but did not share any further details.
