A man has been seriously injured following a stabbing in Paisley.

Police were called to the Ferguslie Park area of the town in the early hours of this morning following concerns from members of the public.

The male was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow while police cordoned off the area.

Blackstoun Road was closed between its junction with Bankfoot Road and Westburn Avenue and remained closed during yesterday’s rush-hour traffic.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.50am on Friday, July 18, we were called to a report of an injured man on Westpark Drive in Paisley.

“Emergency services attended and the 43-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.”
