Leeds United have been consistently linked with Callum Wilson this summer.

The 33-year-old striker has left Newcastle after five years on Tyneside and is available on a free transfer as a result.

Daniel Farke is keen to add Premier League experience to his squad, and Wilson fits the bill, as he has 239 matches in the division.

The Whites could bring the veteran to Elland Road as they look to solve their striking issues ahead of a return to the top-flight.

Leeds were chasing Sean Longstaff, and they have finally sealed his signature after tough negotiations with Eddie Howe’s side.

The Peacocks took to Instagram (18 July) to announce the deal for the 27-year-old, saying: “Sean Longstaff becomes our fifth signing of the summer, after joining from Newcastle United.”

Wilson reacted by liking the post from his former teammate, with current Whites ace Karl Darlow doing the same.

Longstaff is Leeds’ best addition yet

Farke’s side have been active this summer, bolstering their squad with European exports that should make them a more physical team.

The likes of Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw, Lukas Nmecha and Gabriel Gudmundsson have all joined the LS11 outfit.

Longstaff will now join them, and he is the best addition yet, as he already has a significant amount of experience in the division.

The Englishman has featured 171 times in the top-flight of English football, notching 10 goals and nine assists from midfield.

He started just eight games in the league last season, despite playing 25 times, recording a total of 786 minutes for the Carabao Cup winners.

Farke already has the likes of Ao Tanaka, Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev at his disposal in the engine room, but there are doubts over their ability to cut it at the highest level consistently, with rotation needed.

The Geordie could give the Whites a crucial boost in the battle to survive ahead of their relegation rivals, especially Sunderland and Burnley, who came up from the Championship with them.

The 49ers reportedly have another £80million available for Farke to spend without sales, and they may need to utilise all those funds if they are to achieve their goal of remaining at the elite level.
