Manchester United will have their first pre-season runout on Saturday when Ruben Amorim’s side take on newly-promoted Leeds United in Sweden. The Portuguese can finally catch a glimpse of the work on the training field as they look to put right the wrongs of last season’s dour campaign.

For those United supporters in Scandinavia, they will get a sneak peek at new signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon after the pair were selected to board the flight to Stockholm. It begins a gruelling pre-season which will see them then jet off to the United States to face three more Premier League opponents before returning home to face Fiorentina at Old Trafford.

On the transfer front, there has been some frustration from supporters after their long-winded pursuit of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo.

However, there was positivity as United reached an agreement with the Bees to sign the Cameroon international after their £70million bid was accepted.

Talks will remain ongoing to thrash out the finer details and personal terms but the forward poses the chance for a fresh injection of quality in an attacking area that struggled last season.

Lisandro Martinez returned to first-team training after missing the remainder of last season through injury but his comeback continues to be monitored back at Carrington.

Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkze will remain in the North West, with Andre Onana, to recover from small issues but the pair will both travel to America for the next stage of pre-season preparations.

United take on Daniel Farke’s side in Stockholm on Saturday, 2pm kick-off.
