Manchester United could make a move to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko this summer, according to Sky Sports News.
The Red Devils are desperate to strengthen their attack this summer for Ruben Amorim and after sealing a deal for Brazilian star Matheus Cunha earlier in the window, they finally agreed a deal with Brentford after lengthy negotiations to sign Bryan Mbeumo.
But the club are still keen to bring in a new starting striker too and after missing out on moves to sign Liam Delap and Viktor Gyokeres so far this summer, a move for Sesko has now been described as “one to watch”.
Man Utd Explore Move for Sesko
Vivell knows player very well
Sesko, who has been described as ‘unstoppable’, has been a long-time target for Old Trafford chiefs, with Man Utd’s head of scouting Christopher Vivell having been the man to have signed him for RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig in recent years.
The Slovenia international had been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, but talks broke down and the Gunners instead moved to sign Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres.
Sesko then looked set to stay at Leipzig with his £78m release clause deemed to be too high by many interested clubs, but while speaking live on Sky Sports News, reporter Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that he was told to keep an eye on a potential move to Man Utd developing later in the window.
“Sky Sports News has been told one to keep an eye on as the window develops is RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.”
GIVEMESPORT sources understand that contact has been made this summer and the player would be open to the move to Old Trafford, despite their lack of European football this summer.
However, any deal is likely to depend on outgoings from the club first as Man Utd must raise funds to complete any more deals this summer. Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia have all been made available for transfer, and are all expected to leave before the deadline.
