One Brit got more than what she bargained for after she discovered a hidden gem in Spain for the summer holidays that’s “better than Magaluf” and it’s just 2.5 hours from the UK.
Offering sandy beaches, nightlife and drinks better than other holiday hotspots, travel experts believe this magical Spanish city is perfect for a last-minute holiday this summer.
The destination was shared on TikTok by @taraeleanorr who said the little-known Spanish region of Ballermann is a must-do holiday for Brits.
After revealing that she had mistakenly booked a holiday in a region of Mallorca popular with Germans, British holidaymaker Tara said that the area has “techno for breakfast, Currywurst on every corner, and a sea of football shirts”.
She would “ten out of ten” return to Ballermann again despite claiming she booked the holiday by mistake. Social media users flocked to share their own views.

One said: ” Went here last year was immense” while another said ” this is better than Magaluf, I’ve been a few times.”
The video, which currently has over 17.1K likes, shows some of the area’s highlights, which include busy German bars, booming nightlife, and stunning sunsets. With the average price of a pint in Spain costing £2.49 and flights costing as little as £30 each way from the UK, this little-known hidden gem is a great option to consider this summer.
Last-minute holiday experts at Travel Republic said: ” The island of Mallorca is a great destination for British holidaymakers looking for a buzzing atmosphere. But if you’re searching for great nightlife without the large crowds, then Bellermann may be the location for you.
“Due to Ballermann being unknown to many British tourists, it may be less crowded than other areas of the island. British holidaymakers travelling to Ballermann can look forward to sunny weather, beautiful beaches, and delicious food.”
It comes as Turkey’s Marmaris has been ranked the cheapest short-haul holiday destination for UK families. The port city has the lowest prices out of 16 popular locations for a basket of 10 tourist items, Post Office Travel Money said.

This included just £67.67 for a three-course meal for two adults and two children with wine and soft drinks. Other low prices included 16p for a 1.5-litre bottle of mineral water from a supermarket, £1.81 for a bottle or can of cola at a cafe or bar, and £2.61 for insect repellent.
Post Office Travel Money said the low prices for UK visitors are partly due to a sharp fall in the value of the Turkish lira. Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, was found to be the second-cheapest destination, with Portugal’s Algarve taking the third spot.
Laura Plunkett, head of travel money at Post Office, said: “The collapse of the lira makes Turkish resorts like Marmaris a natural choice for families.
“However, visitors should be aware that while sterling is worth a third more than last July, local prices have increased dramatically because of the currency’s collapse.
“Thankfully, once the positive exchange rate is applied to those local prices, British visitors will only have to pay around 10% more than a year ago, and this increase is much lower than in many other destinations.”
