Sheffield Wednesday have taken several players on trial, and they recently featured in a friendly.

The Owls were hit with a three-window transfer embargo earlier this summer, preventing them from signing players for any sort of fee.

However, Sheffield Wednesday have still been looking to improve the club despite the huge limitations currently on them.

It was shared earlier this week that Wednesday had taken Mohamed Konate on trial.

He was released by Portuguese side SC Covilha this year and has been training with the club, along with some more players.

Wednesday, amid the chaos surrounding their manager and a potential takeover, are yet to announce any official pre-season friendlies for the first team.

However, an Owls squad, made up of youngsters, was in action on July 18 against Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Konate featured in the friendly, but other names were also included in the squad.

The Star report that Alexander Asaba started the fixture over the weekend.

Meanwhile, it was added that an unknown trialist was in goal for the Owls against Stocksbridge Park Steels.

While Sheffield Wednesday remain under a transfer embargo, they can still make some signings this summer.

Loans are tricky, as paying a fee for a player is also not possible right now.

But the Owls are able to complete transfers for players who are not registered with another club and don’t cost anything.

Wednesday also have a wage cap because of the embargo, but that is thought to be limited to £7,000, which is surely more than what they would offer a trialist anyway.
