Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr faced-off in the ‘Fight Of The Century’ back in 2015.

After years of rumours and speculation, the legendary duo finally locked horns for the unified WBC, WBA and WBO world welterweight titles on Saturday May 2 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Despite the hype that had been built up prior to their monumental showdown, the fight itself failed to live up to expectations on the night as Mayweather boxed his way to a unanimous decision victory over the Filipino icon.

Mayweather would go on to announce his retirement from boxing two years after his victory over Pacquiao, defeating MMA icon Conor McGregor in the 50th and final outing of his glittering professional career.

In an interview with ESNEWS, Pacquiao was asked to share his thoughts on a fantasy showdown between prime versions of Mayweather and four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr after recent back and forth between the pair.

“The prime Roy Jones? Roy Jones, Roy Jones. You agree with me? Roy Jones is Roy Jones. In his prime? Man, fast, footwork, strong.”

The Filipino icon was then asked if he believes Jones would have gotten the stoppage victory over Mayweather.

“I think so.”

Jones and Mayweather have been going at each other over the last few weeks, sparking rumours that the legendary American duo could potentially face each other in the ring at some stage in the near future.

Jones has not fought as a professional since April of 2023 when he suffered a majority decision defeat to former MMA star Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis in Wisconsin.
