Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has posted a wordless message to social media after his side’s goalless draw against Leeds United. Ruben Amorim’s men kicked off their pre-season preparations with a stalemate against the West Yorkshire club in Stockholm, Sweden.
Supporters caught a glimpse of new signings Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha, but neither could inspire a winning start for United as they step up their efforts ahead of a huge Premier League campaign. The Chelsea academy graduate will be hoping for an extended run in the Portuguese’s squad having endured an injury-hit start to his career at Old Trafford.
Mount was introduced for the second half of the goalless draw against next season’s Premier League rivals, replacing the summer signing Cunha, who was the first arrival from Wolverhampton Wanderers after his £62.5 million release clause was triggered.
The 26-year-old posted to social media after his first run out of the season, though he opted not to caption his post but still received support from his teammates including captain Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund, Leny Yoro among others who all ‘liked’ the post.

Mount was on target with a brace in the Europa League semi-final over Athletic Bilbao in May, marking his return after a frustrating injury layoff.
“It’s important for every player [to return],” Amorim said at the time.
“But when you see that kind of guy working hard every day, eating well, resting, ice bath. He does everything. “When you have this kind of player, you just want to help them.
“The quality that he has, like you said, it’s perfect for that position. “He can be a midfielder, he can run like a winger, he can play with his back to the goal. I’m really happy for him.”
As well as the forthcoming campaign being a big season for Mount, it is also a pivotal season for both United and Amorim following last year’s turgid display.
Mount’s injury issues reduced him to just 16 Premier League appearances, two more than his debut season which was equally ravaged with problems forcing him out of selection contention.
But the England international has previously spoken about his excitement to see the team evolve under the former Sporting CP boss. “He’s been brilliant,” the 26-year-old said.
“I’d seen the way he likes to play and the formations he’d played in Portugal. It’s something that I’ve been used to and I’ve played in the past, so I know the kind of movement he likes.
“It’s very similar. So I knew I could be helping the lads around me understand the formation.
“It’s very difficult when you change from one formation to another. It can be quite a big difference, so, at the beginning, it takes some time to get used to and to click.
“But once you do find that moment that it does, I think it can be very special.
“I think we’re so close to that. There’s still small details here and there. “The small details are so important when you’re playing at this level and this type of formation.”
