Sheffield Wednesday’s situation has finally been covered in Thailand, Dejphon Chansiri’s home country, as details behind the takeover collapse come to light.
Sheffield Wednesday are undergoing a nightmare this summer, with owner Dejphon Chansiri struggling to run the club.
The Thai owner has shown intentions of selling the club, with Tilman Fertitta and Francesco Guardascione named as likely successors to Chansiri, but such talks have since gone quiet.
Amid the uncertainty, panic stations have resumed in S6, with several first-team players moving on.
Sheffield Wednesday have lost Josh Windass and Michael Smith after their contracts were mutually ended – the Owls’ top two league scorers last season, whilst Djeidi Gassama and Anthony Musaba have also been sold for a cut-price.
As scrutiny aimed at Chansiri mounts up, it has hit another level, with the Thai press now shining a light on the owner from their home country.

Per a report by Thai Newsroom, Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover, which professionals oversaw, had failed as a result of a ‘lack of clarity and accord over the Owls’ unsettled financial burdens with the owner allegedly taking the helm in shambles and mess’.
Such an issue suggests that Dejphon Chansiri and Sheffield Wednesday are back to square one regarding the sale of the club.
Chansiri’s decisions regarding the club do not suggest that a takeover is merely close, with emergency funds being found through player sales. Sheffield Wednesday’s first-team assets, those that are left, are being targeted to fund the day-to-day running of the football club, leaving the current squad in disarray.

It is clear that, whilst the fanbase was previously divided on such a matter, a large majority of Sheffield Wednesday supporters are hoping for a new era.
As a result, a means of expressing their feelings is by increasing scrutiny of their owner. Whilst Dejphon Chansiri has already shown his thick skin, brushing aside fan criticism, it will surely make a difference, knowing that reports are circulating in his home country.
Chansiri is a proud man, there is no denying that, but the Thai reports mean that he cannot hide from Sheffield Wednesday’s current situation. Such reports may easily kick Chansiri further towards working proactively to secure a sale in the near future.
