Two weather warnings will be in effect this eveningWeather alert for NI
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for Northern Ireland set to last 24 hours.
A yellow alert for heavy rain is in place from 6pm today, Sunday July 20, through to 6pm tomorrow, Monday July 21. It has been warned that heavy rain may cause some flooding and disruption during tonight and Monday.
The new weather warning comes as a separate alert for thunderstorms was issued yesterday for parts of the region today from 12 until 8pm.
What should I expect?
- There is a slight chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses;
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings;
- Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services;
- Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures;
- There is a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads;
- There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.
Looking ahead to this week, the Met Office says it will remain unsettled on Tuesday and Wednesday with further showers, although likely to be less heavy than previous days. Some drier more settled weather on Thursday and feeling less humid.
