Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were kicked out of Frogmore Cottage when they made the move to the US, but it still sits vacant, with one royal expert inquiring about the status of the royal residence.
According to the Daily Mail’s Royal Editor, Rebecca English, Frogmore Cottage is “still empty” and “there are no immediate plans to fill it.” It may pain the Sussexes that they were asked to vacate the premises and the royal residence still goes unused, but that’s because King Charles has plans for it.

Rebecca explained: “And we all know that’s because the King has suggested that as a home for Prince Andrew, and he’s clearly said he doesn’t want to downgrade to somewhere as small as a five-bedroom cottage with a beautiful garden.”
According to Rebecca, if the Duke and Duchess were to ever move back, “it is a property they could still use.”
Clarence House may be more befitting for Prince Harry and his family, says royal expert, but it’s already occupied, by King Charles himself and. Queen Camilla (Image: Getty Images )
While that is an option, Rebecca pictured Harry and Meghan living in Clarence House, but at this point in time, King Charles and Queen Camilla use the royal residence as their home when in London, “because of the building works at Buckingham Palace,” said the royal expert.
Harry has openly talked about missing his family, but he hasn’t expressed any interest in moving back the UK, not full-time.
Why is Frogmore Cottage empty?
It’s a nice gesture to suggest Frogmore is available to them, but that would be up to Charles to decide and it seems the decision has been made, that he’s saving it for his brother Prince Andrew, who currently resides at Royal Lodge, but don’t let the name fool you, it’s a 30-room mansion.
Andrew has been fighting tooth and nail to stay, and it doesn’t look like he’s going anywhere anytime soon.
It appears Frogmore will remain empty for the time being.
Where do Harry and Meghan live now?
Harry and Meghan currently live in the US, in a 14-room mansion in Montecito, California, and it doesn’t seem like they have any plans of Moving back to the UK any time soon.
It’s been reported that the Sussexes purchased a property in Portugal, which gives them a homebase in Europe, where they can spend time and be closer to their British relatives.
It would be nice for the Sussexes to have a place to stay when in the UK, but their visits are few and far between, which is one reason the monarchy doesn’t give them a royal residence, because they don’t live in the UK, nor are they working royals.
Harry is currently in Central Africa, continuing his late mother’s efforts in bring awareness to the dangers of landmines.
