A STARGAZING spot located an hour from Glasgow has been named as one of the best in Scotland. 

Loch Venachar in the Trossachs has Designated Dark Sky Discovery Sites on both shores with stunning reflections and views.

Dark Sky Week will take place on April 21 to 28, giving people the perfect excuse to drive north and enjoy stargazing at the breath-taking spot which has minimal light pollution.

The global celebration aims to raise awareness about light pollution and its negative impacts and promotes solutions to preservice dark skies.

Scotland is home to the UK’s first Dark Sky Park, Europe’s first Dark Sky Town and Scotland’s first International Dark Sky Sanctuary making it of the best places to experience dark skies.

Visit Scotland highlights the Isle of Rum, Tomintoul & Glenlivet, Galloway Forest Park, North Ronaldsay in Orkney and Unst in Shetland as other stargazing spots.
