A number of high-profile clubs are after the veteran forward this summer, including Blues.

With heaps of ambition as the Blues aim to make a statement upon their return to the second tier, the club have already brought in the likes of Tommy Doyle, Demarai Gray and Kyogo Furuhashi, whilst interest has also been reported in Wolves’ Hwang Hee-chan.

Football League World’s Blues fan pundit, Jason Moore, believes that Vardy would be a fantastic figure to have at the club. However, certain conditions should be made clear if a move were to materialise.

Speaking to Football League World, Jason was asked whether the club should be committing to a move for Vardy even after landing Kyogo, and he responded strongly, outlining the Blues‘ ambitions.

“The whole goal this season is to get to the Premier League,” said Jason. “The club have made that their objective, and I don’t think they care too much about how it is that they get there.”

“I think the signing of Kyogo shows that with his age, and the fact that we spent around £10 million on him.”

With the prospect of Vardy at St Andrews, Jason was keen to outline that the veteran forward can absolutely still perform in the second tier of English football: “I mean, it’s Jamie Vardy, he will absolutely still do a job in the Championship,” added Jason.

“If he wants to come to Birmingham City and help us get to the Premier League, then I have absolutely no problem with that.”

Jason was, though, certain that Vardy would have to be happy with certain conditions should he make a move: “I don’t think he would play every single game, but I doubt that he thinks he will.

“He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net, but I don’t think he is capable of playing a 46-match season in the Championship.

“I would definitely take him if he wanted to come, as long as he is aware that he is unlikely to play every single game.”

A move for Jamie Vardy would bring life to Birmingham’s Premier League hopes

Jamie Vardy for Leicester City

Despite Vardy’s age, his goal-scoring instincts have not left him.

The 38-year-old netted nine times for Leicester in the Premier League last term, and his xG of 11.21 suggests just how clinical he was with a lack of service.

Vardy also netted 18 goals across 18 Championship starts as the Foxes secured their return to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca in 2024.

While Vardy may have to accept that he might not be the first name on the teamsheet at St Andrew’s, he would bring bags of experience and goalscoring ability to any club looking to secure his signature this summer.

And for a Birmingham side looking for a short stay following their bounce back to the Championship, a player of Vardy’s quality and know-how could be perfect to fire the Blues into the promotion race.
