Leeds are closing in on the signing of Hoffenheim midfield general Anton Stach.

Daniel Farke has already added the likes of Jaka Bijol, Sebastiaan Bornauw and Lucas Nmecha to his squad.

However, they need more signings if they are to have any chance of staying in the Premier League, and the giant midfielder would be a real coup.

The addition of Sean Longstaff has added some much-needed top-flight experience to the squad, but they still need another signing in the engine room.

Leeds have reportedly reached an agreement for Stach (19 July), with a fee believed to be more than £17.3million.

Iconic commentator believes that Farke is looking for a more physical approach, and it makes sense to sign Stach as a result.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: “He played 30 games in the Bundesliga for Hoffenheim last season, so he plays every week for them, and the Bundesliga is a pretty good level.

“It is probably the league that is most like the Premier League, I’d say in feel. You are probably getting a pretty streetwise midfield player; you presume they have looked at him a fair bit, and they will have done their homework.

“Maybe there is a feeling that they need to be up there physically, and not get bullied, it is a big physical challenge, it is probably one that Ipswich struggled with last season.

“It is not a bad way to come at it, it is interesting with Farke, he has managed in the Premier League, and it did not work out, hence the debate over whether he would be the manager.

“You would have thought he had learnt a lot about what is required, maybe these are the conclusions that he has come to.

“The beauty is in the blend in midfield, there is room for silky creators, but you also want minders and enforcers, so I think it is a question of getting the right amount of silk and steel, that will be the aim.”

Stach can be a huge signing for Leeds

Stach will be one of the better players in the bottom half of the top-flight next season. It is a very impressive deal for the Elland Road outfit.

He will be a huge signing in terms of his imposing frame on the pitch, as he is dominant in the air and covers ground efficiently too.

The 49ers Enterprises group have shown with the Stach deal that they are willing to back Farke after ultimately deciding that he was the right man to take them forward.
