Patients across the borough have helped to rank their local doctors’ as part of the annual GP Patient Survey for NHS England.

The survey asks participants for their feedback on several points, including the ease of phone contact, whether they get to see their preferred GP and more.

Rainham & Upminster Medical Centre has received the worst patient rating.

The surgery, in Upminster Road South, saw 29.49 per cent of respondents report that they have had an overall negative experience.

In particular, patient feedback highlighted that ease of contact via the website and ease of contact with the GP via the app were negative.

The patient data also revealed that 63.58 per cent of respondents say they do not get to see their preferred GP often.

Harlow Road Surgery in Rainham was the second worst-rated facility, with 25.1 per cent of people saying they had a negative overall experience.

Again, the worst-rated factor related to patients and how often they get to see their preferred GP.

The data has shown that 67.91pc of respondents said they do not get to see their preferred GP often.

Central Park Surgery took the third spot, with a 24.1pc response rate of negative overall experiences at the GP in Harold Hill Health Centre.

From the figures, 73.3pc of respondents said they do not get to see their preferred GP often, with 38.21pc having a negative experience of contacting it via the app, and 44.38 per cent of people having a negative experience of contacting their GP on the website.

Ease of phone contact with the surgery was another poorly performing topic, seeing 65.41 per cent of respondents reporting their experience as negative.

A spokesperson for NHS North East London said: “We are always keen to learn from patient feedback so the survey results give us valuable insight in helping us to support our GP practices to be as good as they possibly can be as well as informing our primary care priorities overall.

“Despite practices facing a growing and increasingly complex demand for their services, the 2025 survey results show more than two-thirds of people (70pc) across north east London reported their experience of their surgery as ‘good’ overall which is testament to the ongoing efforts of our GPs and primary care teams.

“However, we recognise there is room for improvement and are already working closely with GPs to address the issues raised.

“This includes supporting practices to improve or upgrade their appointment booking systems and websites, and encourage greater take-up of the NHS app so patients can contact their surgery more easily when they need to.

“Our aim is to ensure that people across north east London have access to high quality primary care services wherever they live.”
