Huddersfield Town are trying to sign midfielder Marc Leonard from Birmingham, sources have told Football Insider.
Leonard, 23, is a target for several Championship and MLS sides with Birmingham open to letting him move on.
However, ambitious Huddersfield have joined the chase for the Scotsman with the club’s American owner Kevin Nagle spending big to build a team capable of winning promotion back to the Championship.

On 2 June, O’Rourke revealed to Football Insider that Birmingham were prepared to sanction Leonard’s exit this summer.
The 23-year-old featured 35 times last season as the Blues stomped their way to an EFL record points tally and promotion back to the Championship.
However, despite featuring in the majority of matches last term, Leonard started only 14 times under Chris Davies.

The Welsh boss has a plethora of talented midfield options available to him, including Paik Seung-ho, George Hall, and Kanya Fujimoto.
And with the Blues aggressively pursuing new options in the transfer market with an eye on back-to-back promotions, it is difficult to see where Leonard fits in at St. Andrew’s next season.
The Championship new boys have added Demarai Gray to their squad this summer, and sources told Football Insider that Birmingham have registered their interest in a deal to sign Jamie Vardy on a free transfer.

So far 10 players have departed Huddersfield this summer, and of that group, perhaps the most significant exit was captain and midfield general Jonathan Hogg.
The 36-year-old featured 34 times for the Terriers, and the expiry of his contract left a gaping hole in the midfield.
Whilst Leonard will struggle to get into Birmingham‘s side due to their strength in midfield, the Scotland Under-21 international’s arrival would represent a significant upgrade for Lee Grant.
The former Man United goalkeeper has been put in charge at Kirklees following Michael Duff’s exit, and the sole focus for the 42-year-old will be to guide Huddersfield back to England’s second-tier next season.
Alongside Leonard’s potential arrival, the Terries fended off interest from Championship clubs to sign Wycombe Wanderers defender Joe Low, whilst Owen Goodman has joined on loan from Crystal Palace.
