It is a forum for analyzing the needs of the sector and proposing actions to the Administration that facilitate the implementation of the technology and market takeoff.

Aagesen, highlighted the progress made by the advisory group,

which has achieved such positive results, placing its main focus on ongoing regulatory developments, such as the transposition of European regulations to better adapt Spain’s growth strategy for a key energy vehicle for the decarbonization process.

He also highlighted the publication on the website of the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE) of the list of projects selected by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) under the “Auctions as a Service” (AaaS) mechanism for the production of renewable hydrogen.

The list includes three projects that were not shortlisted in the European Hydrogen Bank’s second general auction , due to the exhaustion of the EU budget. The projects are located in Saceruela (Ciudad Real), Garray (Soria), and Onda (Castellón), and have a combined capacity of 485 megawatts (MW).

They will benefit from €377 million allocated by Spain under the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan.

Orange.bat, Power2X and Redexis

The projects are the Orange.bat green hydrogen project , from Smartenergy, in Onda (Castellón), which will receive 82.5 million euros over the first 10 years of production of the project, at a rate of 0.69 euros/kg with an annual production volume of green hydrogen close to 120,000 tons.

Also, the Dutch company Power2X and the Spanish company Soto Solar have partnered to develop a solar energy and green hydrogen project in central Spain, specifically in Saceruela (Ciudad Real).

The ErasmoPower2x project will have a 1.2 GW photovoltaic plant and an integrated plant to produce 55,000 tons of green hydrogen. It will entail an investment of more than 1 billion euros and will enter into operation in 2027. The Saceruela (Ciudad Real), Garray (Soria), and Onda (Castellón) projects have a combined capacity of 485 megawatts (MW).

Finally, SOMACYL , the Public Infrastructure and Environment Company of Castile and León, has launched, with Redexis , construction of the green hydrogen production plant located in Garray, Soria, after obtaining the relevant licenses. Located in the Environmental Business Park (PEMA), it will have a capacity of 2.5 MW. The planned investment amounts to €6 million.

The plant aims to be the first green hydrogen plant to come online in Castile and León. It will be capable of producing 300,000 tons annually. The hydrogen will be used for industry, via a hydrogen pipeline, and for mobility.
