Penguin Random House (PRH) has announced the publication of the Shadow Reaper, a new fantasy series from YA author Lynette Noni, previously acquired in a three book deal, via Jennifer Azantian from Azantian Literary Agency.
A dark YA fantasy romance, ‘Shadow Reaper follows a young reaper hunter who must conspire with her childhood friend turned mortal enemy and his crew of illegal magic thieves to stop a deadly foe from stealing untold power – and dooming their world’, said the publisher.
Noni studied journalism, academic writing, and human behaviour at university before writing fiction. She is author of the The Prison Healer trilogy (Penguin), the Medoran Chronicles and the Whisper duology (Pantera). Her latest book, Wandering Wild, is a contemporary romance.
Discussing her new work, Noni said, ‘Shadow Reaper is so very special to me – I feel like every book I’ve written has been leading up to this one, which means I’m both utterly terrified and beyond excited for its release. I absolutely can’t wait to see what magic Penguin has in store this time!’
PRH publisher Rebecca McRitchie said, ‘It has absolutely everything YA readers love – romance, magic, highstakes, found family – and twists aplenty!’
The first book in the Shadow Reaper series will be released in Australia in June 2026. The publisher said, ‘rights have already begun to sell into numerous foreign territories’ including France, Germany, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Spain, and the Netherlands.
