Wrexham transfer latest

EXCL by Alan Nixon – Wrexham have a staggering £10MILLION to spend on a striker but have not found their man yet.

Boss Phil Parkinson can smash the Championship club’s signing record on a No 9 but so far no targets have worked out.

The Red Dragons are fighting Derby for forward Josh Windass, 31, after he left Sheffield Wednesday.

Windass is seen an experienced head in the Championship having scored 13 times for Sheffield Wednesday last season.

He would add the critically needed calm head as Wrexham plot another historic campaign.

Another striker in the same category is Michael Smith, who left the Owls and is waiting to see if Wrexham renew their interest after having bids rejected last term.

Ashley Young on the move

Ex-Manchester United captain Ashley Young is nearing a move to Ipswich.

The 40-year-old was released by Everton earlier this summer.

Young was previously linked with a return to Watford.

But according to Sky Sports, Young could opt to reunite with former Man Utd first team coach Kieran McKenna at Portman Road.

United chief on Mbeumo swoop

Man Utd director of football Jason Wilcox is over the moon to have brought Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils chief said: “Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional, his remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England for the last three seasons.

“Bryan’s belief in our project and determination to join the club confirmed that he was the perfect fit for Manchester United and the culture that we are developing.

“We are delighted to have secured another one of our primary targets ahead of the pre-season tour.

“The experience in the US will be the perfect opportunity for Bryan to work with Ruben and his new team-mates as we prepare for an exciting season ahead.”

Mbeumo’s ‘dream’ move

Bryan Mbeumo is thrilled to have joined Manchester United from Brentford.

Upon completing his £71million switch, the forward said: “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up.

“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday.

“I know that I have the spirit and character to reach another level here, learning from Ruben Amorim and playing alongside world-class players.

“Everybody told me about the environment that is being created here and how exciting the plans are for the future.

“This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans, we are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”

United in striker hunt

Benjamin Sesko has emerged as a target for Manchester United this summer.

The RB Leipzig forward, 22, was strongly linked with Arsenal, prior to the Gunners’ pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres.

Now he has emerged as a contender to sign for the Red Devils.

Sky Sports claim that Saudi side Al-Hilal have also shown an interest in the Slovenian.
