Shots were fired close to a school
A primary school was sent into lockdown after gunshots were fired nearby on the last day of term, it has been revealed.
Children, their parents and staff were kept on school grounds at Glebefields Primary School, Tipton as shots were heard during school pick-up time on Friday, July 18.
Police were alerted to the incident in Sandgate Road at around 3.30pm, as parents were in the area to take their kids home.

Fortunately, no one was injured but due to the close proximity to the children, police told those at the school to stay on the grounds while they carried out enquiries.
No one had yet been arrested as of Monday, July 21 and West Midlands Police is appealing for information.
The full appeal read: “We are investigating after reports of shots being fired in Tipton.
“We were called to a report of a firearms discharge at around 3.30pm on Friday afternoon in Sandgate Road. Thankfully no one was injured.
“Because the location of the report was close to a nearby school: parents, staff and students were kept on school grounds while our officers carried out their enquiries.”
Since the incident, officers have been in the local area investigating and gathering evidence, the force said.
They appealed for help, adding: “We’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and might have seen what happened, as well as anyone who has doorbell or dashcam footage.
