TRANMERE Rovers have confirmed the signing of teenage midfielder Billy Blacker on loan from Sheffield United until the end of the season.

West Yorkshire-born Blacker made his senior debut for the Blades in the FA Cup third round in January 2025, before making his first Championship appearance just two weeks later.

An academy graduate at United, Blacker joins manager Andy Crosby’s squad as he looks to gain valuable first-team experience.

The promising 19-year-old has primarily featured as an attacking midfielder, but has also played on the left of a front three and as a striker.

Upon joining Rovers on loan, Blacker said: “I’m absolutely delighted to join this club, a club with such a big history, and I’m just excited to be here.

“I’ve spoken to the manager and he’s got a clear vision for me, and the team, and it’s something I really wanted to be a part of.

“I can’t wait to play in front of the fans and I’ll give them 110% every time I play.”

Manager Andy Crosby added: “I’m delighted to bring Billy into the football club.

“I would like to thank everyone at Sheffield United for trusting us with the next stage of Billy’s career.

“He has been the captain of their U21 team and has had some first-team exposure already. He has come here to get game time and to help us in our goals for the season.

“The values of both clubs are aligned. Billy knows exactly what he has to do to represent our football club. Work hard and play with 100% commitment

“He has a fantastic attitude for the game. He wants to learn, and I feel like we have some amazing role models for him.”
