Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic joined forces on Monday to host the Ultimate Training Day at Robin Park Arena.
In another proud showing of unity between the town’s two sporting teams, the Warriors and Latics came together in high spirits to raise further awareness and funds for the Wigan Warriors Community Foundation and Wigan Athletic Community Trust.
Community coaches from each side kicked off the training day with rugby league, football and disability activities for all supporters to participate in on the outdoor running track, before Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic First Team players took to the field.
Wigan Athletic manager Ryan Lowe led a joint-rondo before supporters were able to watch each team share the pitch to complete a training session. The Warriors and Latics faced off in a penalty shootout and conversion challenge after training as Harry Smith and Brad O’Neill beat Sam Tickle from the spot, whilst Paul Mullin, James Carragher and Will Aimson were successful from the tee.
At the end of the session, players and coaches from Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic were on hand to sign autographs and have pictures taken with supporters in attendance. To round up the day, each Club’s Academy teams completed a training session as Community activities continued.
