Sheffield Wednesday supporters have grown tired of the problems brought to the Championship club by Dejphon Chansiri’s failing ownership.
Thanks to Chansiri’s repeated inability to fulfill his wage obligations on time, Josh Windass is set to join Wrexham on a free transfer.
The attacking midfielder was a key player for the Owls last term, notching 13 goals and five assists in 44 Championship appearances.
But Windass’ exit is far from the only hardship the South Yorkshire club have suffered in recent weeks, while former Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith has signed for Preston, after handing in his notice to the Hillsborough side.

Amid Chansiri’s financial failings, Hillsborough’s North Stand could be closed at the start of next season over safety concerns.
Providing an update on the situation, the Sheffield Star revealed on Tuesday, 22 July, that it’s ‘very possible’ the Owls’ North Stand won’t be given a safety certificate.

The Star’s Joe Crann added via X: “If the safety certificate is rejected, SWFC should be offering full refunds to everyone who has bought a season ticket in the North, or at the very least a partial refund if they get sat somewhere cheaper.
“I wouldn’t hold my breath, though.”

Sheffield Wednesday are set to witness further mass exodus
Football Insider verdict
Windass and Smith are not the only high-profile Championship stars to have left Sheffield Wednesday this summer, as Djeidi Gassama joined Scottish Premiership title hopefuls Rangers.
Gassama’s exit was a blow to Wednesday
Meanwhile, Wednesday academy starlet Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri is close to joining Manchester City in a move that will hand the South Yorkshire outfit some much-needed financial respite.
Courtesy of the chaos overseen by Chansiri, the Owls are now set for a relegation battle, after landing a comfortable mid-table spot under Danny Rohl.
Following several player departures, Rohl remains set for a Sheffield Wednesday exit, while his departure will come as the biggest blow to the Hillsborough club this summer.
For as long as Chansiri remains at the Owls’ ownership helm, it is difficult to envisage any outcome other than the vast majority of their squad moving on to pastures new.
Rival Championship clubs will be set to capitalise on the fact that young talents such as Gabriel Otegbayo can enjoy more financial stability elsewhere.
