Manchester United‘s Harry Maguire has confirmed he will be joining the Red Devils’ pre-season tour, despite missing their flight to the United States on Tuesday. The former Leicester City defender made a half-time appearance in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Leeds United, before being substituted for Tyler Fredricson later in the match.

News broke on Tuesday afternoon that the 32-year-old would not be accompanying his teammates on their US-bound flight. The Reds are set to fly to Chicago to participate in the Premier League summer series, featuring matches against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.

However, Maguire has quashed any worries about his absence by posting a statement on his Instagram stories. “All is fine now,” he assured. “I will be travelling tomorrow (Wednesday) to meet up with the squad. Thanks for your concern.”

When asked about the upcoming tour in North America, Reds manager Amorim shared his excitement about meeting fans.

“[Meeting fans] it [was] the same in the last tour,” he expressed. “We feel that they [the fans] deserve more in every aspect so we are going to give.

“I think it is our responsibility to interact with our fans and we have that in our group. We are going to do that. And also in that department, we are going to be closer, [that’s] what Manchester United should be.”

Amorim’s squad are gearing up to be in peak condition for a challenging Premier League opener at home against Arsenal on 17 August. United also have difficult league matches against Manchester City and Chelsea in the first two months of the 2025/26 season.
