A woman who travelled miles to see Yungblud’s recent Bristol gig says she was left ‘devastated’ after she missed the artist’s entire set due to collapsing. The 24-year-old, who wishes to be known as Jade, had tickets for the first of two Yungblud sets.

The musician was performing at at The Prospect Building at 5pm and and 7pm on Sunday, July 13, as part of an intimate record store tour in partnership with Rough Trade, where he would be performing stripped back versions of songs from his album and talking about the process of writing them. The weather saw very hot and sunny temperatures, as well as high UV levels, with the venue having warned gig goers not to queue long in advance of the doors opening.

Jade, who had travelled from Port Talbot in South Wales to see the star told BristolLive: “I was so excited. My cousin and her partner travelled from Birmingham to see him, too.

“But I think the communication was terrible during this show. They opened the gates at 2pm which I think in extreme heat is bad. I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome ( condition that can see the heart rate increases very quickly) and seizures and we were left in 31C heat until 4.30pm when doors were supposed to be open at 4pm.

“We told staff that we were epileptic and have PoTS and that we have to stay in the shade. But we were forced to stand in the heat. I can’t stand for long because of my PoTS and the heat didn’t help.

“When they opened the doors, it took Dom (Yungblud) half an hour to come on the stage. As he sang his first song I fell to the floor and had a PoTS episode. I went dizzy and my hands and legs started tingling and my heart rate was over the top.”

Jade said she then had to be rushed to a medical bay as her heart rate had risen to around 160/170 beats per minute and while waiting for her symptoms to improve, she ended up missing the entire set. BristolLive reported on Tuesday that other fans had complained that the set was shorter than they had anticipated, with many saying Yungblud only played for around 28 minutes.

At the time, the venue said: “We were delighted to welcome Yungblud to the venue for this intimate, close-up and personal album launch show. The event was clearly advertised as such and the length of the set reflected the nature of the show.

“The venue made every effort to accommodate customers and to mitigate the challenges of such hot weather. Doors to the courtyard opened two hours early giving customers access to refreshments with welfare staff handing out water and medics available if required.

“In addition to this, pre-event communication was sent to every ticket holder requesting that customers arrive at the venue shortly before the advertised door times to avoid queuing in the hot weather. This was a very well received event with customer feedback being extremely positive.”

Jade, who says she spent £81 on tickets, went on to say: “I missed the whole show. I came back 15 minutes later and he was gone. I was so gutted.”

She is now trying to get a refund on her ticket, but has since been told she will need to contact Rough Trade to do so. She told BristolLive: “I want to get my money back as I never saw him perform. I am so upset. I cried my heart out. It’s devastating.

“I’m autistic and my cousin and partner are autistic. We had no idea what was going on and the communication was absolutely shocking.”

“The show was advertised as 4-6pm which is a misperception as he only performed less than half an hour. He said he was going to sing a few songs then talk about his reason behind the name of the album and songs. But he never did.

“If I’d have known that the show was about 28 minutes long, I wouldn’t have paid £81 to see him perform.”

BristolLive has contacted the venue for comment on this matter.
