Roy Jones Jr. believes Oscar De La Hoya might’ve edged Floyd Mayweather in their clash on May 5, 2007.

At the time, ‘The Golden Boy’ was the face of boxing, with De La Hoya earning more than Mayweather did for their fight.

The bout served as a passing of the torch moment, with Mayweather claiming the victory and becoming the biggest star in the sport.

However, some, including ‘Captain Hook’, believe the decision could’ve gone the Mexican-American’s way.

In an interview on Ring Champs with Ak & Barak, Jones Jr. said: “He fought Shane Mosley at 38 years old, and it still was a good fight, and Shane almost took him out at 38.

“He fought Oscar De La Hoya at an old age and we still ain’t sure. If you go look at the fight, I still ain’t sure who won that fight, but this an old Oscar De La Hoya, if you an all-time great, Oscar De La Hoya didn’t do that when he fought Julio Cesar Chavez.”
