Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy extends far beyond his pioneering work in music and reality TV. The Black Sabbath frontman, who died on Tuesday at the age of 76, also leaves behind a life story as captivating as his on-stage presence. Luckily, the Prince of Darkness chronicled much of it in his 2011 autobiography I Am Ozzy, and was set to give fans even more in his forthcoming memoir Last Rites.
Following the singer’s death, I Am Ozzy shot back to the top of the charts and quickly sold out on Amazon. You can still pick up a copy at Barnes & Noble, or listen to the Audible audiobook, narrated by English actor Rupert Farley. His new memoir, Last Rites, is also available for preorder on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Ozzy’s 2011 autobiography, I Am Ozzy, gives the most thorough retelling of the singer’s life. The book sees Osbourne recounting his impoverished upbringing in Birmingham, England, through to his later life as a family man and reality TV star. It’s a balance of wild stories, like the now famous tale of him biting the head off of a live bat, and candor around the singer’s struggles with substances and loss. “Told for the first time in the rocker’s hilarious and inimitable voice, Ozzy finally comes clean,” reads the book’s description.

‘Last Rites’
The singer was also due to release another memoir, Last Rites, in October of this year. This book, still due to be released posthumously, focuses more on Osbourne’s later years. “Unflinching, brutally honest, but surprisingly life-affirming,” per the description, the book will see Osbourne opening up about his health struggles and his marriage to wife Sharon.
“People say to me, if you could do it all again, knowing what you know now, would you change anything? I’m like, fuck no. If I’d been clean and sober, I wouldn’t be Ozzy. If I’d done normal, sensible things, I wouldn’t be Ozzy,” says Osbourne in Last Rites. “Look, if it ends tomorrow, I can’t complain. I’ve been all around the world. Seen a lot of things. I’ve done good… and I’ve done bad.”
