Manchester United’s summer window is beginning to take shape after their latest signing was confirmed.

Bryan Mbeumo has finally completed his £70million move to United from Brentford – putting an end to months of speculation around the Cameroon international’s future. Mbeumo was United’s second signing of the summer and third overall with the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.

Ruben Amorim will hope to have Cunha and Mbeumo available for pre-season for the rest of the summer before their return to Premier League action next term. United will begin the campaign on August 17, at home to Arsenal, where Mbeumo and Cunha will be aiming to be in the starting line-up.

However, another position in the United squad continues to be the subject of speculation. Despite having Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund in their ranks, United are continuing to be linked with signing a striker.

A fresh update from The Mirror has reported, however, that United do not expect to sign a new centre forward anytime soon. In fact, the report has claimed that United are set to be without a new striker being signed before the opening weekend clash against Arsenal on August 17.

United have been linked with a host of strikers this summer, including Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea, Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Randal Kolo Muani of Paris Saint-Germain. There was interest in Liam Delap before the centre forward went on to join Chelsea instead, while Hugo Ekitike and Viktor Gyokeres have also been mentioned as potential targets over the last few weeks.

It remains to be seen where United will turn this summer in the race to sign a new striker. The report adds that United are looking to players with Premier League experience as part of their CV, but who they will lead to the club targeting remains unclear at this stage.
