Shawn Porter has shared his latest verdict on a potential clash between Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson.

The unbeaten lightweight stars have been on a collision course for a number of years now, but a showdown between the pair is yet to come to fruition.

‘Tank’ Davis currently reigns as the WBA world lightweight champion, with the most recent defence of his crown coming against Lamont Roach Jr earlier, although the fight was declared a majority decision draw after a competitive contest in New York City.

As for Stevenson, the 28-year-old from New York made his return to the ring on July 12 as he outpointed the previously unbeaten Mexican contender William Zepeda, putting on arguably the best performance of his professional career in the process.

In an interview with Fight Hype, two-time welterweight champion Porter shared his thoughts on a potential showdown between ‘Tank’ and Stevenson, who he said is absolutely a top ten pound-for-pound fighter.

“It’s a great fight man. Tactically, I absolutely love that fight. Tank got business to deal with, but Lamont, ain’t no telling he gonna actually win that one, man, that’s a great fight too. I don’t know who wins with Tank and Shakur, man that’s 50-50.”

Davis had been in line to face Roach in their highly anticipated rematch next, although it appears that this bout is now hanging in the balance after Roach claimed that he believes ‘Tank’ does not want to face him again.

This could leave the door open for that long-awaited clash between Davis and Stevenson, which many fans and analysts believe could be one of, if not the ‘biggest fight in boxing’.
