A report of two trespassers on a building site in Bristol prompted a major police response last night (Wednesday, July 23).

At around 10.10pm, a security company spotted two people at a building site in Hengrove.

Avon and Somerset Police were called and as well as ground units, a police helicopter was seen in the area.

One witness told Bristol Live that it had been circling around Hengrove at a low altitude for a while.

The police said it was reported that two men entered the site as trespassers and were seen standing near plant machinery.

When police arrived at the scene, officers conducted a search to find the two men.

The men were unable to be located by officers.

It was noted that nothing had appeared to be stolen or damaged.

The incident had been reported as a suspected burglary.

A spokesperson for the police said: “We received a call from a security company to a suspected burglary at a building site in Hengrove at around 10.10pm on Wednesday, July 23.

“It was reported that two males had entered the site as trespassers and were seen standing near plant machinery.

“We arrived at the scene and conducted a search which was negative, and nothing appears to have been stolen or damaged.
