RC Lens have Sheffield Wednesday’s Yan Valery on their target list, according to Jeunes Footeux.
The 26-year-old operated as a right-back and at times as a centre-back and a wing-back for the Owls last season, managing three goals and four assists from 40 games.
Lens are interested in the Sheffield Wednesday player as they are looking for a fullback who can also operate in other positions, to provide competition to Ruben Aguilar.
The France-born Tunisia international fits the profile and it’s claimed the Ligue 1 club are ‘now focused’ on signing him this summer.
He has the experience of playing in France from his two-year spell with Angers.
Jeunes Footeux reports that this, coupled with his qualities and versatility, makes him an attractive option for Lens. They add his profile is ‘greatly appreciated’ by the French club’s sporting director, Jean-Louis Leca.
The defender’s contract expires in 2027, but Lens are optimistic of taking him away from Sheffield Wednesday because of the English club’s delicate economic conditions and their need to raise funds.
There’s no mention of the Owls’ demand or the fee Lens could offer to sign Valery.
