Police have launched a robbery probe after a Birmingham bus driver was viciously attacked whilst on the job.

A man entered the 50A bus service without paying and attacked the driver after the vehicle had stopped in Moseley Road at around 5.35pm on Wednesday, June 25.

An argument turned into violence after the thug was challenged by the bus driver over not paying.

The victim was punched and money was taken, police said.

Fortunately, the driver suffered only minor injuries.

West Midlands Police tonight issued a CCTV image of a man the force would like to identify following the attack.

A force spokesperson said: “Do you recognise this man?

“We’re investigating a robbery that took place on the number 50A bus while it was parked on Moseley Road, Birmingham, on June 25, between 5.35pm and 5.40pm.

“A man is reported to have entered the bus without paying and after being challenged, he argued with the driver before the incident escalated and the victim was punched and money was taken.

“Fortunately the driver received minor injuries.

“We believe the man in the images could have information to help with our investigation.
