Keeping kids busy during the school holidays can be a challenge for parents and guardians, especially when the weather has been wet and rainy like it has for the past few days.
Luckily there are lots of family-friendly activities and events taking place across Greater Manchester in the coming weeks, which means there’s no danger of little ones being bored.
When the sun does come out a great option is enjoying a trip out to your local park.
According to the latest forecast from the Met Office Manchester can expect sunny intervals throughout today (July 25) – with no sign of rain – so it’s a good idea to make the most of it and get outside.

At the heart of the park is a lake which is teeming with wildlife and little ones will love to spot the majestic swans and cheeky ducks.
The park has a large playground with views across the water. It features a climbing frame, swings, slides and more so it’s a great way for kids to burn up energy while having fun.
Throughout the park are dozens of picnic spots, including a large patch of grass at the entrance and secluded spots under the trees dotted around the edge of the water.
Bringing your own food and drink to the park helps keep costs down and as we all know summer holidays can be expensive for parents. Having a picnic outsode also adds to the sense of adventure for little ones.

But if you do fancy a treat, an ice cream van can usually be found parked up by the lake and is guaranteed to put a smile on little ones’ faces.
Probably more suited to older kids who are more adventurous eaters, it has meal deals from £8 and also has a selection of hot and cold drinks, and ice creams. It’s open from 11am to 4pm daily.
There is a free car park and public toilets at the entrance of the park. Maitland Avenue, Manchester M21 7WH
