The Hollow Bottom, a beloved racing pub 25 minutes from Cheltenham racecourse, will reopen its doors under new ownership on Friday.

Renowned for hosting celebrations of major winners, including Imperial Commander’s 2010 Gold Cup triumph for Nigel Twiston-Davies, the pub hopes to become a hub of racing festivities once again.

The pub was closed over a month ago on June 15, 2025 when previous owners Young’s were coming to the end of their lease. It will reopen under the experienced stewardship of Nathan Eades and Liam Goff.

“We’re incredibly proud to be taking on such an important local institution,” said Eades. “The Hollow Bottom is more than just a pub, it’s a huge part of Guiting Power and the local farming and racing community. It’s sadly lost its way in recent years and we very much want to take it back to its glory days.”

Nestled within a few miles of some of the sport’s top stables, the pub’s strong racing heritage will continue to be celebrated at its core.

Eades added: “Our main aim is to put the heart and soul back into this fantastic pub, with daily happy hours, racing on the TV, a buzzing garden and high-quality food on the plates”

The kitchen will be led by Josh Murphy, who brings experience from Michelin-starred establishments and the front-of-house team includes Claudio Liquori and Silviu Dinu, who have both previously worked alongside Eades and Goff. The bar will be overseen by local hospitality figure Miles Partridge.
