Affordable set menus at iconic London restaurants
Running from August 1 to September 14, you can expect luxurious two and three-course set menus at a variety of locations across the city. Ranging from gorgeous, sky-high rooftops with panoramic views of the city, to cosy pubs serving up award-winning British cuisine, each spot will have a slightly different offering, so there’s something to match every mood or occasion.
Head to Aviary (in the 5* Montcalm Royal London House), for skyline views, where you can enjoy a panoramic sweeping London vista from 10 floors up. Their menu serves a sophisticated take on classic menu staples: start with Chapel and Swan smoked salmon poached egg, truffle dressing, then indulge with pan fried stone bass with curried tomato chutney.
Wagtail offers a 360° City of London vantage, decked-out with an art-deco polish. Dine out on marinated lamb rump with aubergine & miso puree, mint caper relish, or roast cod loin featuring Isle of Wight tomatoes, black olives, and basil — both are stunning, enhanced twists on classic British fare.
Indulge in glamour at The Botanist in Broadgate Circle, blending a chic interior design with an appetising handpicked menu for classy dining. Sample chicken schnitzel, plus rocket and granarolo salad with truffle mayonnaise, or enjoy grilled hispi cabbage, romesco sauce, superstraccia, and marcona almonds.
For chic Chelsea charm on the District line, the elegant corner-facing The Botanist on Sloane Square is your friend, with a trendy spin on global dishes. Kick off with stone bass, served with with roasted courgette, red pepper, and gremolata. Or try the roast aubergine tahini, accentuated with pomegranate, cucumber, and mint.
Take Trafalgar Square in from above at Kitty Hawk, where sleek, effortless interiors unveil a dashing panoramic terrace. The menu is modern British cuisine-come-international finesse. Look forward to cod with borlotti beans, rainbow chard, and salsa verde, or grilled hispi cabbage, with mushroom-garum caramel, celeriac remoulade, and sweet onion jus.
If you’re at the Barbican, hop down the street to Chiswell Street Dining Rooms, a classically stylish all‑day foodie haven, bringing countryside calm to the nearby bustle. Standout seasonal dishes include Suffolk chicken schnitzel, with aioli, lemon and parsley, as well as asparagus risotto with radicchio.
Head down to Chiswell Street for the Jugged Hare’s charmingly cosy city escape. In a grade‑II listed former brewery, relax amidst exposed red‑brick, vaulted ceilings and walls lined with taxidermy. Enjoy Cornish hake escabeche served with chickpeas and baby bok choi, or the elegant corn-fed chicken breast in leek and summer‑truffle sauce.
Marlowe is a vibrant all‑day café, bar and restaurant nestled between the hipster charm of Shoreditch and the business-minded City. By day the café hums with coffee and casual food. By evening the bar takes centre stage with signature cocktails. In the restaurant, it’s all about the pan-fried sea bass served with shaved fennel and dill salad, or pan-fried gnocchi tossed with feta, peas, asparagus and preserved lemon.
Burdock is proudly designed to impress. Blending a café, bar and restaurant into one humming hotspot (there are even shuffleboards for post‑work play), mains on offer are smoked haddock fish cake, served on spiced tomato sauce with vibrant spinach and a soft‑poached egg, or even penne arrabbiata with chilli, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts and basil.
The not-so-secret menus will start at £19.50 for two courses and £24.50 for three courses, and will include a glass of Chandon per person.
So, there you have it. Secret London and ETM collection’s worst-kept secret is out! The menus will not be around forever, so don’t delay; pop down to your venue of choice between August 1 to September 14, and ask to see the secret menu.
