A woman who lives on a cruise ship has opened up about her life at sea and revealed the one disgusting habit she can’t stand from fellow passengers.

Christine Kesteloo, 44, spends six month a year living on a cruise ship with her husband.

The content creator, who regularly posts about her life and travels on her TikTok page @dutchworld_americangirl, works in marketing and runs her business, Dune Travels, while sailing around the world.

The couple are passionate about ocean liners, and Christine met her husband, a staff chief engineer, while she was working on the Holland American Line as a cruise director, Unilad reports.

She intends to continue her cruise lifestyle with her husband ‘for at least the next couple of years’.

However, during her time living at sea, Christine has noted one thing in particular that she finds disgusting.

She told the publication: ‘As far as gross [parts], I don’t like when guests go to the buffet directly after the gym, don’t wash their hands.’

Christine lives on a ship that houses 1,400 guests and has travelled to 109 different countries.

She revealed the positives of her lifestyle too, noting being able to visit so many different places.

‘I also don’t have to pay for petrol, food, make my bed, do my laundry or clean my room,’ the content creator added.

Christine went on to debunk various ‘myths’ about cruise ships, including whether she consumes the water.

‘Yes, I do drink the water and no you can’t fall overboard unless you are doing something you shouldn’t. Cruising is safe,’ she explained.

The traveller shared how she enjoys her lifestyle and admitted it feels like a ‘constant vacation’.

However, there are some things she misses, including ‘a crisp McDonald’s diet coke’ and decent WiFi connection.

Christine revealed they might disembark their cruising way of life when her husband retires, which could be in a couple of years.

It comes as a retired teacher shared why she decided to live full time on a cruise ship and people might be shocked by how affordable the lifestyle can be.

She told the publication: 'As far as gross [parts], I don't like when guests go to the buffet directly after the gym, don't wash their hands.'

Sharon Lane, 77,  left her home in Orange County, California, to move onto a Villa Vie cruise ship.

Speaking to NBC Los Angeles, Sharon describes herself as an ‘ocean person’ and shows off the sea views from the ship.

The retiree explains: ‘Every month I have a maintenance fee to pay and that is less than I was paying for rent [on land].’

While Sharon didn’t reveal exactly how much she’d spent to live at sea, interior cabins on Villa Vie cost $129,999 (£95,470). Residents then pay $3,000 (£2,200) a month for all their expenses, including meals, beer, wine, WIFI, laundry, activities and access to all the facilities.
