With Emi Martínez’s future still uncertain, Aston Villa could be keeping a close eye on Lucas Chevalier.
The Lille goalkeeper is reportedly available for around €40 million this summer and has less than two years remaining on his contract.
There is no shortage of interest in Chevalier either, with L’Équipe reporting that he has already turned down offers from Bournemouth and another Premier League club.
The outlet adds that the 23-year-old is not actively seeking a move away from Lille this summer, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future – similar to Villa’s Martínez.
Villa recently rejected a surprising loan bid from Manchester United for Martínez, who is valued at around £40 million.
With Villa needing to reduce their wage bill, Martínez is seen as a possible departure, particularly as he is open to starting a new chapter in his career.
If Martínez were to leave Villa in the coming weeks, a move for Chevalier could become a viable option for Monchi.
However, Paris Saint-Germain are also closely monitoring the situation, given the uncertainty surrounding their goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italy international is in the final year of his contract with PSG and has yet to sign an extension.
It is believed that Chevalier is PSG’s top choice to replace Donnarumma, should he depart.
