Mateo Joseph is attempting to force a move away from Leeds United to join Real Betis, and the situation is becoming messy.

Joseph is burning his bridges at Elland Road, with the striker missing training to force a move through.

Leeds were initially keen on keeping the attacker, but given his desire to leave, that stance appears to have changed.

Betis are keen on signing Joseph, but as it stands, there is no agreement between the clubs close, and there has now been a new development.

Daniel Farke has admitted that he is powerless to stop Joseph from going on strike, while the rest of his teammates prepare for more pre-season matches.

The Spaniard has failed to turn up to training, but as it stands, Betis are not offering the terms Leeds want to sanction a permanent exit.

Joseph fell down the pecking order last season

It was previously reported that Leeds could sell Joseph to Celta Vigo, who are willing to pay £10million, while Betis want the 21-year-old on a loan with an option to buy.

Seville-based outlet Estadio Deportivo (25 July) have now claimed that Leeds are unhappy with Joseph, as Betis are encouraging the player to force his club into selling, and they are displeased with this “strategy of attrition.”

Keeping an unhappy player, and particularly one who is set to fall further down the pecking order, will not work out, and Leeds need to part ways with Joseph in the coming weeks.

Ideally, Leeds would have loaned Joseph out, with a view to a long-term future at Elland Road, but the attacker has burned his bridges at Elland Road, and fans are far from impressed.

Leeds want to bring in a striker, with Rodrigo Muniz a target, and this would relegate Joseph to a peripheral role anyway.

Although talented, the attacker was behind Piroe in the pecking order in the second half of last season, and a permanent sale would be best this summer.

Joseph has scored six goals in 73 games for Leeds, but most of these appearances came from the bench, and Betis clearly see him as a big talent who could make an instant impact.
