• The chic Queen Letizia of Spain is the mother of her glamorous daughters Princess Leonor, 19, and Infanta Sofia, 18.
  • At a royal engagement on July 24, all three women wore power suits, with Letizia’s Carolina Herrera look serving as a blueprint for her equally fashionable daughters.
  • It has been a week full of power suits for the Queen, who wore a Mango suit to a royal engagement the day prior, on July 23.

Queen Letizia of Spain—one of the most stylish royals globally—is a longtime fan of the power suit, and she returned to the look in Carolina Herrera alongside her daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia.

On July 24 in Girona, Spain, Letizia—who is married to Spain’s King Felipe—attended a royal engagement in a double-breasted navy blazer with statement gold buttons and coordinated trousers; she accessorized with Carolina Herrera’s Victoria Insignia bag, for good measure.

Alongside Felipe and their daughters, Letizia provided the blueprint for Leonor and Sofia, who also wore styled suits, per WWD. Leonor, 19—who will be Queen someday—wore a white linen Mango suit, which the outlet reports is a favorite designer of her mother’s, as well. Sofia, 18, wore a turquoise jacket and trouser set from Spanish brand Rivera.

In the British royal family, Kate Middleton has been known to rock a power suit; Meghan Markle also does so with frequency. Before them, their shared mother-in-law Princess Diana also took her own spin on the trend in the 1980s, and Letizia—always a trendsetter—is known to wear suited pieces by Mango, Hugo Boss, Bleis Madrid, and more, WWD reported.

The three women’s appearance on Thursday came just one day after the mother-daughter duo of Letizia and Leonor wore suits again, Letizia in a black Mango trouser suit and black patent Sézane slingbacks and Leonor in a navy Bleis Madrid blazer and matching pants, per Marie Claire. Sofia skipped the trouser suit memo for the engagement in Barcelona and instead chartered her own course Wednesday, wearing a one-shouldered navy jumpsuit by Spanish label The-Are, according to Marie Claire.

Leonor—known as the Princess of Asturias—wore sentimental jewelry on Wednesday, wearing her mother Letizia’s diamond drop earrings, her hair worn up to show off the sparklers. It has been a big week for the future queen, as she just returned from a six-month stint aboard the Spanish Navy training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano. This extensive training will prepare Leonor, when she is Queen, to become the commander-in-chief of the Spanish armed forces, as her father the King is in the present day.

Per Hello!, in the coming weeks, Leonor will begin her third and final year of her military training at San Javier Air Force Academy in Murcia. According to Tatler, Leonor’s looks this week “marked a notable style shift for the young royal.” Per the outlet, the future queen “has typically favored brighter hues and feminine silhouettes with dresses and classic skirts. As such, this darker, tailored look felt symbolic of a royal growing into her public role,” adding that the Princess of Asturias “embodied the elegance of a future queen.”
