Ryan Garcia and Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero are in talks for a rematch to go down in December. Kingry has chosen to attempt to avenge his loss to Rolly (17-2, 13 KOs) from last May, and capture the WBA welterweight title.

Romero vs. Garcia II: Advanced Talks
Manouk Akopyan revealed the news of the Garcia-Romero negotiations, saying they’re in “advanced talks” for the second clash. Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) blamed his loss to Rolly on hand problems that kept him from being able to throw punches. Ryan also didn’t like fighting in front of a small crowd that night. He says he’s going to steamroll Romero in the rematch.
Rolly defeated Ryan by the scores of 115-112, 118-109, and 115-112.
Rematch Outcome: Career Impact for Garcia
If Garcia’s hand problems flare up again, we’ll likely have a repeat of the first fight at Times Square in New York City. It could be career oblivion for Kingry if he loses a second time to Romero. There’s no amount of excuses that Garcia could cook up that would help him avoid the backlash from fans.
Social Media Doubts Ryan Garcia
People on social media aren’t giving Ryan much chance of winning the rematch. They feel that the one-sided nature of their clash last May makes it impossible for Garcia to win a second fight with Romero. It was too one-sided a contest for a different outcome in a rematch.
Ryan and his dad, Henry Garcia, need to think this thing through because he doesn’t have to fight Romero again. He can still make good money fighting a rematch with Devin Haney, as long as he doesn’t get blasted out of the solar system by WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. Ryan can just sit and wait on the outcome of that fight, and face Haney in Riyadh.
Manny Pacquiao is interested in challenging Rolly for his WBA welterweight title. For Romero to be going in the direction of a rematch with Garcia, he must think the money will be better.
