Newcastle may be forced to accept an Alexander Isak departure this summer, with the prolific striker reportedly informing the Magpies he wants to explore new options. And the north east giants could use any transfer windfall to sting Liverpool and Manchester United.
Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 and has gone on to bag 62 goals in 109 games for the Magpies. The 25-year-old has not travelled to Asia as part of his team’s pre-season tour squad, with the club insisting he has a “thigh injury.” Liverpool are the red hot favourites to sign Isak but could be forced to pay up to £150million for the Sweden international. And Express Sport takes a look at four players Eddie Howe could take to Newcastle with that money and the extra cash they should have after the sale of Sean Longstaff and the departure of Callum Wilson.
Benjamin Sesko
Benjamin Sesko had been attracting interest from Arsenal, but the Slovenia striker is now said to be in talks with Manchester United over a move to Old Trafford.
It had been reported that RB Leipzig’s asking price had risen to £86m this summer, but German media have suggested his current employers could allow him to move on if an offer comes in for £60m.
Newcastle have now also reportedly made contact with Leipzig over a move for the frontman, and could sneak in and beat the Red Devils to his signature.
Marc Guehi
Earlier this month, it was reported that Liverpool had presented Crystal Palace with a £40m take-it-or-leave-it offer in exchange for Marc Guehi.
The England centre-back has just one year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and reportedly has no intention to sign an extension.
Guehi could have his pick of clubs at that price, and Newcastle may match Liverpool’s potential bid and persuade him to move to St James’ Park instead.
Zion Suzuki
Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is said to be attracting interest from the Premier League after keeping seven clean sheets in 38 appearances for his current team last season.
West Ham have reportedly making contact over a transfer, with Parma said to be holding out for £30m.
And Newcastle could be in the mix for his signature after scouting the shot-stopper in January, according to TBR.
Yoane Wissa
Newcastle are said to be lining up a move for Yoane Wissa, with a £35m deal for the Brentford striker expected to progress over the weekend.
The 28-year-old enjoyed his best ever season for the Bees last time around as he netted 19 Premier League goals, just four fewer than Isak managed.
